Making Daddy Proud

Posted by jonnyd on August 24th, 2007

Allison continued her big week with two more heart warming moments for Daddy.
First, I turned around from working at my desk to find Allison sitting on the floor reading quietly to herself… reading the 1981 Dallas Cowboys Yearbook, and looking at pictures of my first childhood hero – Roger Staubach…

Reading about the Cowboys

When she was done, she headed out to watch tv or play in her playroom. After a while, I noticed it had gotten pretty quiet so I ventured out to see what was going on. I found that Allison had decided she was tired and headed off to her room to take a nap in her new big girl bed… all on her own…

She absolutely loves her new bed, and has been sleeping very well in it the past few nights. Needless to say, her Daddy is very proud of his little girl!

Another Milestone

We turned a big page last night… Corissa and I turned on the video feed to Alli’s room and saw that she was perched up on the railings of her crib, and about to do a header onto the floor. Daddy’s catlike speed and reflexes got in there before she did a Peter Pan right off the top rope and caught her. Right then and there we decided it was time to call the bull pen and bring in the toddler bed. So last night, after a bit of rearranging in her room, Allison spent her first night in her brand new big girl bed. This morning Daddy took apart the crib, let Allison say goodbye to her bed of almost 2 years, and hello to her new big girl status…

Chalk up another milestone passed.

Next thing you know we’ll be helping her decorate her new dorm room.

Momma’s Away… Daddy and Alli Will Play

This weekend, Corissa joined the other wives for a little girls weekend away. While they were gone, it was Daddy on duty 24/7. And, as you might expect, when Daddy has the reigns, there is bound to be some foolishness going on. Allison and Daddy turned the living room into a little private playground, complete with a fort for Allison to play in…

She loved her fort…

It had an unobstructed view of Cinderella, which was important…

I think you could say she enjoyed it…

Lake Trip

Posted by jonnyd on August 9th, 2007

This past weekend, we got to take a little break from the normal routine and get out of town for a few days. My family rented a lake house up on the north shore of Lake Travis and it we had a great time just hanging out together. I know for me, it was nice to just get away and find a change of scenery for a few days… for Allison, it was a whole new world of experiences…

She got her first up close view of the lake and the countless boats that went by, which get her excited each time… she would hear them coming and would get excited even before they appeared in view.  In this picture she was letting me know that another boat was coming…

She enjoyed her first trip to the golf course… even though she had a tough time with clubs that were a few sizes too big for her…

Enjoyed this beautiful view from the 16th hole… ok, maybe Mommy and Daddy enjoyed it more than Allison did, but it sure was a nice view…

Caught a short, late afternoon nap with Mommy on the hammock… which was probably just as nice and needed for Mommy as it was for Allison…

Then woke up to enjoy a good laugh with Daddy after watching the sunset over the lake from the dock…

Quality time with Daddy

It was great trip and I look forward to many more getaways like this… both for my own sake and to get to watch Allison experience new things.  For now, it’s back to work and back to counting the days until football season!
