4th and 5, The National Championship on the line right here... January 4, 2006 - The BCS National Championship Game - Rose Bowl #2 Texas 41 #1 USC 38
After an entire season, it basically came down to one play. When the pocket collapsed and everyone was covered, Vince took off to the right corner of the endzone... and the moment that his foot crossed that goal line is easily the greatest Longhorn Football moment I've witnessed.

Roll Left December 7, 1996 - First Big XII Championship Game - TWA Dome - St Louis Texas 37 #3 Nebraska 27
Before USC, the reigning Kings of College Football were the Nebraska Cornhuskers. With back to back National Titles under their belt, they were gunning for number 3 in a row. But on the "gutsiest call of John Mackovic's coaching career", the Horns went for it on 4th and inches. James Brown faked the dive, rolled left and found a wide open Derek Lewis, whose catch and run set up Priest Holmes game winning touchdown run on the next play... and sealed what Bill Schoening called "a HUGE UPSET"

Ricky's Run for the Record November 27, 1998 - Memorial Stadium Texas 26, #6 A&M 24
He said he hoped he would break the record in style, and he did. Needing only 11 yards to break Tony Dorsett's all time college rushing record, Ricky broke off left tackle and took it 60 yards for a touchdown. I was lucky enough to be on the field for the run and it was one of the most memorable moments of my life. I was just feet away when he came to the sidelines and embraced Tony Dorsett, who was one of my childhood heroes.

Mangum's Last Second Kick January 1, 2005 - Rose Bowl #6 Texas 38 #13 Michigan 37
I was sitting with my family in the bleachers behind the goal posts as Michigan tried to ice our kicker. But Mack Brown told Dusty that he was the luckiest guy in the world because he got to go out there and be a hero... and as the wobbly kick made its way through the uprights to knock off Michigan as time expired in the Rose Bowl, it was the next best thing to winning a National Championship... which would come just one year later, in the same stadium.

4th and 2 January 4, 2006 - The BCS National Championship Game - Rose Bowl #2 Texas 41 #1 USC 38
The back and forth battle between Texas and USC had come to a moment of truth. If USC could convert on 4th and 2, they could run out the clock and claim another National Title. If the defense doesn't make the stop, Vince never has the chance to make that last touchdown run. When the chains came out and showed our defense had held, I turned to Michael and told him it was time for Vince to go win it for us... and he did.

Stafford to Jones October 17, 1987 - War Memorial Stadium - Little Rock, Arkansas Texas 16 #15 Arkansas 14
I was watching the game at my grandma's house with Michael. And as time ticked down in the 4th quarter, I had almost already resigned myself to another tough loss for Texas, which had been all too common place in those days. But with just 4 seconds left, Brett Stafford threw an unbelievable pass into triple coverage, and found Tony Jones for the touchdown with no time left... we were jumping up and down on the beds. And it was the inspiration for the first highlight video I ever made.

The kick from Dawson is... GOOD! October 21, 1995 - Memorial Stadium #16 Texas 17, #14 Virginia 16
There was a stiff wind out of the south that day. And when Virginia took a 16-14 lead in the waning moments of the game, things look bleak for Texas. But after a few clutch plays, including a conversion on 4th and 10, James Brown got the ball into range for Dawson to give it a shot. But at 50 yards into a 20 mph wind, it would still take a miracle... but Dawson nailed a perfect kick that sailed over the cross bar and gave Texas the win on the final play of the game, and in the words of Bill Schoenig, it was "pandemonium on the field at Memorial Stadium".

Johnny Walker October 14, 1989 - Cotton Bowl - Dallas, Texas Texas 28, #15 Oklahoma 24
It had been a tough stretch in the series against ou. It was the second time I had been to the Cotton Bowl for the game and it looked like it wouldn't be a happy afternoon for the Horn fans. With less than 2 minutes to go in the game, Texas was likely down to their last possession when freshman quarterback Peter Gardere stood strong against the blitz and found Johnny Walker for the score. It was the first of what would be 4 straight wins for Gardere and the Horns against the sooners, and we would be there to witness every one in person.

Brewer's QB Draw January 1, 1982 - Cotton Bowl - Dallas, Texas #6 Texas 14 #3 Alabama 12
It was one of my earliest true memories of watching Longhorn Football, and Robert Brewer was one of my first Longhorn heroes. The Alabama defense had been shutting the Horns down all afternoon and with 10 minutes left in the game, Texas was trailing 10-0. On 3rd and 10 Brewer saw something in the Bama D and called time out to talk it over with Coach Akers. The QB draw caught the Tide completely off guard and the 30 yard touchdown was the beginning of the come from behind win.
